Community bleeding-control training
Uncontrolled bleeding is the leading cause of preventable death after injury. A life-threatening bleed can kill in minutes, and the first person there is almost always a bystander. We train that bystander to be you.
Why it matters
Road collisions, workplace accidents, falls through glass, farm and machinery injuries, knife crime and major incidents can all cause catastrophic bleeding. Professional help is on its way, but severe blood loss does not wait. What happens in the first few minutes is down to the people already there.
Bleeding control is simple, learnable and works. Bleed Ready UK exists so that more people in more places know exactly what to do, and feel confident enough to do it.

The Bleed Ready method
Every course is built around the same clear sequence, taught hands-on with training manikins, wound simulators and real tourniquets.
Check for danger before you approach. Don't become a second casualty.
Get help coming early. Ask for the nearest public bleed kit or defibrillator.
Firm, direct pressure on the wound. Hard, and don't let go.
Pack deep wounds with gauze or clean material, then keep pressing.
For life-threatening limb bleeding, apply high and tight. Note the time.
This is an overview, not instruction. The difference between knowing the steps and doing them under pressure is practice. That's what our training gives you.
Training
Delivered by experienced pre-hospital and first aid instructors, in your venue or ours. All courses are practical, small-group and jargon-free. No medical background needed.

The core course. Recognise a life-threatening bleed, apply pressure, pack a wound and use a tourniquet, with plenty of hands-on practice. Ideal for parents, sports clubs, village halls, faith groups and anyone who wants to be ready.

For organisations
Standard first aid courses often give catastrophic bleeding only a few minutes. We go deeper, because in high-risk settings it's the injury that kills fastest. Training is built around your site, your kit and your team.
Bleed control kits
Public bleed control kits are appearing in high streets, stations and venues across the country, often inside or beside defibrillator cabinets. They're designed to be usable by anyone. But confidence comes from having done it before.
We help communities and organisations get the most from their kits: training the people around them, showing guardians how to check them, and encouraging every kit to be registered on Bleed Map, the national bleed kit register, so partner ambulance services can direct 999 callers to it.

Our mission
Bleed Ready UK was founded in Cornwall by a former Royal Marine with military medical training, years of event medical and pre-hospital experience, and a career teaching first aid, trauma care and personal safety. We've seen what happens in those first minutes, and we know ordinary people can change the outcome.
Our goal is to make bleeding-control training accessible to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. We are working towards registration as a charity so we can:
